Hugh Osmond

Hugh Edward Mark Osmond (born 1962) is the founder of Punch Taverns, one of the United Kingdom's largest chains of public houses.

Career

Educated at Merton College, Oxford[1] where he read Medicine,[2] Hugh Osmond went to America in 1983 and worked in clubs for a while.[3] He then joined a small investment bank in Madrid.[3] Returning to the UK he worked with Luke Johnson to launch the flotation of PizzaExpress in 1993.[4] In 1997 he founded Punch Taverns which is now one of the United Kingdom's largest chains of public houses: he was Chairman of Punch Taverns from 1997 to 2001.[4] In 2002 he became a leading partner in Sun Capital Partners:[5] that vehicle secured a major investment in Pearl Group in 2005.[6]

Hugh Osmond is a significant donor to the Conservative Party.[7]
